Based in Rayleigh Essex, with
12 years experience in floristry Donna Mascall Floral Design
offers a unique, dedicated personal approach to designing
beautiful floral arrangements for weddings, corporate and
any occassion.
At the age of 21, I decided to enter myself in the competition "UK
Young Florist of the Year 2005" run by the BFA (British
Florist Association) of which i was one of the final 6 to
be chosen to compete in Daventry over a tough competing weekend.
When the overall marks came in my name was called as the
winner! I couldn't believe my ears, I was so excited!
The win of this competition gave me the place of representing
the UK in the Euroflowers competition in 2006, against 13
other European Countries. This was such an amazing experience
to see how other Countries work with flowers.
I have now been asked to be part of the Master Florist team
at the SFE (Spring Florist Event) held in Birmingham annually
for florists.
In 2007 I competed at Writtle College Chelmsford
and placed 2nd and been accepted to compete in the Oasis
Academy 'Search for a Star' competition in Enfield. I have also
competed in the Interflora 'Florist of the Year' competition
in which so far I have placed 1st in both the 1st and 2nd
heat.
In January 2008 I worked with the Master Florist team and
demonstrated along side Ian Lloyd to an audience of florist
and student florists from around the country.
In 2009 the British Florist Association created a new competition with the RHS named The RHS Chelsea Florist of the Year which would be held at the the grand Chelsea Flower Show.
Regional heats were formed to find the best creative skilled florists to whittle them down to find the lucky 15 in the UK who would compete at Chelsea. I was one of finalist! For the week of the Chelsea Flower Show our task was to create a flamboyant hat! What a great challenge and had to be from scratch.
After many days of throwing around designs and perfecting techniques the designed was completed and created. After tough judging and a nail biting wait my flamboyant hat design was award the RHS Silver-gilt award! I so pleased and what an experience! |
